Mogadishu – Safe Reporters of Somalia (SRS) has released a new report detailing incidents of violence against journalists across the country over the past three months.
According to SRS data, 34 journalists, including two women, faced various forms of violence during the reporting period. Despite these cases, only two journalists—one in Benadir and another in Somaliland—were brought before the courts.
Marking November 2, the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists, SRS urged authorities at all levels to take concrete action to protect media professionals and uphold press freedom.
“The government and regional administrations must ensure that all those responsible for violence against journalists are held accountable under the law,” said Hanad Ali Guled, SRS Spokesperson.
