Nugaal, Puntland – The prosecution in Somalia’s Puntland state has summoned journalists Hassan Hayal and Suweys Gacayte to appear in court.
The summons, issued at the request of the Puntland Ministry of Information, comes amid concerns that the regional administration is attempting to curb press freedom.
Journalists in Puntland report mounting pressure from government authorities in recent days to suppress critical reporting. Safe Reporters of Somalia (SRS) said it will closely monitor the situation, describing the summons as part of a broader effort to silence independent media in the region.
