MOGADISHU – Security guards of the Galmudug President briefly arrested two Kalsan Television journalists on Sunday while they covered a protest by residents evicted from government land in Wadajir district.
Reporter Jafar Mohamed Jimcaalle and cameraman Abdimajiid Abdirahman were later released without charge.
“This is unacceptable, Somali leaders must protect press freedom and ensure journalists can carry out their duties,” said Hanad Ali Guled, spokesperson for the Safe Reporters of Somalia (SRS).
SRS urged the Somali government and Galmudug authorities to investigate the incident.
